Coach
Avi Cohn serves as an instructor at Eddie Bravo's 10th Planet HQ in Downtown Los Angeles and as the head coach of the USC Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club. Through years of coaching and competition, he has developed a highly technical, structured, and detail-oriented teaching style focused on producing measurable improvement.
Avi wasn't a naturally dominant competitor from the start. After suffering difficult losses—including a 17–0 defeat in his very first competition—he became obsessed with understanding how people truly improve. Having experienced setbacks and plateaus firsthand, that relentless pursuit of technical mastery and problem-solving ultimately shaped the coach he is today.
Rather than relying on random techniques or endless repetitions, Avi emphasizes understanding the "why" behind every position, helping students build systems, make better decisions under pressure, and develop skills that translate to live training and competition. His coaching is designed to eliminate guesswork by identifying the habits and patterns holding students back, with a simple mission: to help every student build real skill, a resilient mindset, and the confidence to perform when it matters most.
